The main tasks of the Department are:

Ensuring the implementation of functions for realization of state policy in the sphere of protection of the health of citizens in matters within the competence of the Department, namely:

1. Ensuring the implementation of functions of Roszdravnadzor in licensing of certain activities in the sphere of healthcare.

2. Ensuring the implementation of functions of Roszdravnadzor for realization of Federal State supervision in the sphere of circulation of pharmaceuticals for medical use.

3. Ensuring the implementation of functions of Roszdravnadzor for realization of Federal State supervision over quality and safety of medical activities within the competence of the Department.

4. Ensuring the implementation of functions of Roszdravnadzor in coordination and control of work of its subordinate territorial bodies.

5. Ensuring the implementation of functions of Roszdravnadzor for realization of Federal State control and supervision over the completeness and quality of the implementation by the State authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation of the delegated powers, according to the Federal law of 21.11.2011 No. 323-FZ "On the fundamentals of protection of the health of citizens in the Russian Federation".
